Statement from River Oaks Ob/Gyn Physicians
River Oaks Ob/Gyn providers and staff are committed to providing you with the highest level of healthcare during this national emergency due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus). We are closely following this national pandemic and are committed to being available to our patients in this challenging time for our community and country.
At this time, both of our offices are still open and actively seeing all patients. However, we are asking that if you have ANY sign of illness that you reschedule your gynecology or obstetric appointments. This includes but is not restricted to fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, or gastrointestinal issues. This is being done for the safety of both our high-risk patients and our staff.
If you are an obstetric patient in advanced pregnancy or with a condition we are monitoring and you develop any symptoms you need to call the OB office for specific instructions. Do NOT come to the office. We are NOT providing testing for COVID-19 but will refer you as needed. We are committed to the continuation of routine obstetrical care! You may however have adjustments made to your appointments and ultrasound.
The hospital is now screening at sites of entry and you will NOT be allowed entry with a child younger than the age of 18. We understand and are sympathetic to this impact but this is hospital policy during this pandemic and necessary to prevent community spread. At this time at the Lexington office we are allowing 1-2 small children. We understand with children being out of school the difficulties of childcare, however we are strongly recommending you make alternative arrangements. We do ask that you do NOT under any circumstance bring an ill child with you to an appointment. You and they will be screened at our office and your appointment will be rescheduled if illness is present. Please be respectful of our staff and other patients.
High risk subgroup secondary to past experience with seasonal influenza and SARS.
There is currently no vaccine or specific treatment for COVID-19. However, we do recommend the following to reduce the transmission and spread of this virus.
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If water is not available, use a 60% alcohol based hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is not first line!
- Avoid ill exposures and stay home.
- Avoid large gatherings and play dates. This is not summer break!
- Clean and disinfect surfaces in your home.
- Get a flu shot! It is still circulating!
- Please see the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website for further questions!
We greatly appreciate our patients and staff and are committing to serving you during this pandemic. Please be patient with us as recommendations may necessitate further changes.
