Management of Abnormal Pap Smears

Pap Smears or Papanicolou tests (pap smear tests) are used for screening patients for cervical cancer.

The physicians at River Oaks OB/GYN Associates, P.C. are especially trained in the evaluation and treatment of abnormal pap smears. Each of them are certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and three are members of The American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

We can offer our patients colposcopy for evaluating abnormal pap smears, and cryotherapy (freezing therapy), LEEP (electrosurgical therapy) and laser therapy when treatment is needed.

Surgical and Non-Surgical management of Pelvic Support Problems/Prolapse

Although not a serious or life-threatening problem, loss of support of the vaginal walls can be uncomfortable for many women. Usually felt or seen as a bulge of tissue at the vaginal opening which has not been present in the past, this may represent the front or back walls of the vagina or the uterus or any combination of the three areas.

Management of Incontinence

If you have ever had trouble controlling your bladder, especially when you laugh, cough or sneeze, you’re not alone. In fact, 50 percent of all women have occasional urinary incontinence, the involuntary loss of urine, and an estimated 40 percent of women under the age of 60 have incontinence regularly.

Advanced Laparoscopic Techniques

River Oaks physicians are well trained in many of the new advanced laparoscopic surgery techniques. These include laparoscopic hysterectomies, laparoscopic myomectomies (removal of fibroids), sterilization procedures, therapy for endometriosis and evaluation for other chronic pain problems.

Although not all cases are appropriate for advanced laparoscopic procedures, your physician will discuss with you whether or not these new techniques are appropriate in you case.
